After years and years of using strong opiate based pain medicines, I found Dr. Valery D. Tarasenko, MD at the Advanced Pain Management Institute in Vacaville. I was referred to this clinic through Travis Air Force Base and the Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System. I am being treated with Trigger Point Injections using Lidocaine. These monthly injections have ELIMINATED all the pain medicine I was prescribed in the past. Dr. Tarasenko and all his helpful staff have given me much needed pain relief and the ability to function again..."

"Great place to go when in pain. I have been going through back pain for over 2 years. Treated by 4 therapist 1 chiropractor and 6 doctors, 2 QME and everyone just said that with time i would get better. X-rays showed arthritis, MRI showed degeneration and bulging. "I have had 6 surgeries, 2 staff infections, been oxy for 8 years, been to docs in San Fran, and Sacramento, and 3 suicide attempts. I was told these Docs were the best of the best. I have been dealing with pain from 1983. Doctor Tarasenko was the first doc to tell me what was going on with my back, nerve damage, arthritis, the back muscle are fighting themselves. So, I have been in lower back pain since before 1983 tell I have been treated by Doctor Tarasenko. I now have spinal stimulator, some non-opioid medicine. I now living a normal life with my wife, kids, grandkids. But you need to listen, and follow his instructions, Doctor Tarasenko will tell you how it is. If you are a new patient, you might be there for a couple of hours, it is worth the wait."

This place has not only saved my life but given me a new one. I've been going there for about two years now and since day one I have been treated with care and respect. This Doctor really cares about his patients, and the staff as well. I read all these other reviews about people waiting long periods of time in the waiting room but after two years I've never waited longer than 5 minutes. I've been to bad doctors, and this IS NOT one of them.

1I usually don't write reviews but I noticed some of the negative reviews and I had to share my experience. I have been going to Dr. Tarasenko for about three years now. Without getting into specifics I will start out by saying that Dr. Tarasenko literally saved my life. He knows this because I tell him almost every visit. Dr. Tarasenko and his staff have always treated me with the utmost care and respect. Throughout the years I have never seen anyone have to wait an unreasonable amount of time nor have I seen anyone disrespected. Dr. Tarasenko has a tough job. He has to sort through people who are actually there to get help for their ailments and people who are just there to TRY and obtain pain medication to feed their addictions. I assure you Dr. Tarasenko is a highly skilled and intelligent individual that will see right through you. Don't try it. Instead, if you are struggling with opiate addiction please be honest with the doctor and stop these absurd negative reviews and get a life.

Dr. Tarasenko is wonderful he truly cares about his patients. I've been suffering from migraines for many years, the treatments have completely taken them away. I also want to give the office staff and his treatment assistants a complement they are all very kind and personable. I couldn't be happier. I was referred to Doctor Tarasenko by my primary care Physician for chronic back pain and opioid dependency. One of the best decisions I have ever made was to come to this office. I was taking a high amount of pain medication and over time the pain meds became a bigger problem than the pain I was having. Dr. Tarasenko has gotten me off the opiates with the use of Suboxone, while also being able to control my pain. Suboxone is a very effective drug for ending opioid dependence. I have been coming here now for a few years and his staff is always very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend this Doctor to anyone dealing with chronic pain and especially to those who wish to end dependency on opiates.

"I have been a patient at APMI for a few years now. I came to Dr. Tarasenko with severe pain and on long term Rx meds.

I was miserable, in pain, and stuck on pills to deal with that pain.....I was extremely fearful of what would happen but could not continue on same path any longer. 

I was totally open and honest with Dr T and this is something a person needs to do.....don't lie to you doctors if you truly want to get better.

I have not had Rx meds for a few years now and I have had many specialized treatments to assist with my pain management.

I am in less pain than I was when I was on all those Rx meds from my old Doctor.

You have to understand that it is a process....with chronic pain finding what works is tricky at times. Dr. T has worked hard to target my triggers and provide relief for me.

I highly recommend seeing him if you have chronic pain and need help. Remember, he is solution based, not a pill pusher so this is not the doc to see if you are searching for narcotics only.

I am thankful I do not have to live like I was. I let go of fear and was transparent with Dr.T and trusted the process.

I also want to add that sometimes there is an added wait and the first visit is usually a long one. This is because he takes the time a patient needs, instead of walking in and out in one minute like large medical groups."

"...several individuals speak with me before he came into the room and when he did he seemed to have a handle on my background. He did an exam, spoke with me, was straightforward with the fact that he will deal with each issue I have individually as not everything could be resolved immediately and provided some temporary relief for one of my problems and is going to further help me with a treatment plan. I found him to be so very honest as he didn't try to make me 'feel' better or bad with his findings he actually made me feel very good that I went to him for help. I would recommend Dr. T for chronic pain he is very knowledgeable! by the way I hardly write reviews I  just don't have the energy but after my visit i have the energy to do a lot and one of those things was being able to get out of bed this morning feeling very good! also - his office staff are amazing!!!"
